    Free WiFi at Maccas

I saw this mentioned on the Overlander Forum - Maccas are installing free WiFi in 710 of their stores.

See Wireless Lans - WiFi - Free McDonalds Internet and WiFi - McDonald's FREE WiFi

I'll be going to Maccas instead of paying the hotels we stay in the princely sum of $27 per day

Yeah good aint it! On our trip up to Fraser last year we used to just pull up on the road next to Maccas to download our emails etc on the laptop. Often didnt even have to go in.

Not intirely free, visit wireless hotspots on BigSwamp for other listings, airports etc and to register your internet A/C and see charges.
I have signed my account up for it if needed.$5 for 15min to acsess, then 20c min after that. You cant check your normal email A/C from what I unterstand due to security.

Are you an iPhone owner Andy?

I've used it several times and no charges... Telstra sent out info stating free access for iPhone account holders.

No Mike.I registered it so we could use our laptops if need be whilst travelling.Actually did it before we went to Albany for the long weekend a few weeks ago.Had mechanical issues the last 2 times in Albany so was expecting the inevitable.Would have been very handy if I needed to call the AULRO LIFELINE(and much cheaper than usint the 3G mobile as a modem)
It would be worth finding the BigPuddle page and linking it.Lots of other places besides Maccas.

Hmm, that's not what it says:

McDonald’s offering Free Wireless Internet, really? Are you sure?

Yes, it is official and if you don’t believe it drop by one of the 20 sites listed here and check it out for yourself. No coupon, no special code, you don’t have to buy something, just turn on your WiFi interface, open a browser and you will be redirected to a splash page with some Terms and Conditions, read them (of course you will) and check to box to agree and you are on the net. That simple
Note that none of the currently free Maccas are in WA. All are in NSW.
