Has anyone Converted their VHS to DVD.
    What have you used??

Now that I have some spare time,
(3 months of work - cracked 3 vertebrae and crushed 1 playing soldier)
and not allowed to do ANYTHING

I have the Family stuff to do, but more important I have 87-98
    Camel Trophy to do.

Hook, sorry to hear about your troubles

Re the conversion, I have the technology having converted years of VHS family vid to DVD.

First up; you get VHS quality on a DVD, so you'll be disappointed with the quality.

I used my DV camera which has video "pass-though". Basically I plug the output of the VHS video player into the Sony DV camera, and the output of the camera into the PC. Then play the video while running MS Movie Maker to capture the vid stream out of the camera. From there, a quick edit, burn 2 copies. One for home and one for safe storage at a relatives house.\

    Cheers.

I have my old VCR hooked up to the DVD/HDD recorder. Insert tape in VCR, select input on DVD recorder, press record, press play on VCR and all done when the tape stops - so I go to work and its finished when I get home.

Sorry to hear about the back Hook. Easiest option is as mentioned to get a VHS/DVD Recorder combo. Alternative method is to get a capture card for about $80-$100 to record to your computer and then burn to DVD.

    Bummer about the back.

When setting up the DVD/combo make sure that the highest quality record settings are used, switch off chapters I find they never get it right, I then import the finished files into DVD creation software (DVDLabPro) create titles, menus, chapters, etc. I then create to HDD test view in PowerDVD when Im happy I burn to DVD using Nero.

    Good luck, get better soon.

    Winfast capture card

I use a Winfast video capture card on my computer, had to convert a lot of videos. Found that the VHS/DVD player couldn't do some because of copyright. The capture card is also pugged into my tv, can watch normal tv through the computer plus record.
    Cheers Mick
