I think he suggested turning off Trend firewall as a way to troubleshoot what is actually causing the problem, not a long term solution.
So are you saying that if I disable my Norton 360 firewall and keep the firewall enabled on my D Link router it should give me the same level of security and possibly better performance.

I had a look on the internet and it appears that the Belkin firewall is sufficient on its own to prevent unauthorised access to the network as all traffic has to negotiate it.
Whirlpool has a question in its forum and a couple of recommendations on settings.
I ticked the setting "Discard Ping to WAN interface" as instructed, although my Belkin has a different sentence it is the same thing.
I couldn't find a "SPI and amt DOS firewall protection" to tick.
So I have disabled my Trend and windows firewalls on both computers and enabled the Belkin firewall.
