norton360 .... masochist....
Foolishly I broke a personal rule of mine and downloaded a program I shouldn't have. The crack had some sort of issue with it so now on boot up I get numerous message boxes titled "Test".
The process that is running is winlog.exe. The only way to stop it is through task manager.
Norton's 360 doesn't see it, nor does Ad aware. I've researched on the net and see it's a common problem but I can't find a solution that doesn't involve downloading someone's program to fix it. I have found reg edit solutions but not specifically for Vista.
OS is Vista Home Premium.
Would appreciate any advice.
Cheers.

Have you had a look in the startup tab in the system configuration utility ?
You may be able to 'switch' it off there
in vista hold down shift and right-click and you will get the option to "Open Command Window Here." This will open a Command Prompt.
type in msconfig then press enter
go to the startup tab, see if you can see anything that refers to winlog.exe then remmove the corresponding tick.
failing that do a F3 search for winlog.exe and delete it.
in both cases reboot afterwards.
winlog.exe is not a microsoft process and shouldnt be there.
Thanks guys...all fixed...lesson re-enforced!![]()
