    It does happen here, but some of it depends on what scrap prices are doing - terrible since October last year. Used to be that scrap places might even pay you a little for a pile of CRT monitors.

    Also companies are now supposed to have a return policy for outdated gear that they get rid of. No guarantee that it gets recycled.

    Usefull junk out of old computers

    Never pass up an old computer.
    Pull it apart and unscrew the cover off the hard drive and get vicious with the innards and you can have yourself a pair of very strong magnets.
    Very useful if araldited to a heavy duty bulldog clip or simiar. It will hold a phone book on the fridge if you want.
    Use them in the truck for maps, notes, reciepts, or sunglass cases etc.
