Off site backups
I am considering giving a mob called Carbonite access to all my goodies and precious stuff via external off site backup to their storage facility.
They claim double encryption and super secure. All for about $60/year with no size limit.
Any experiences ... good, bad or indifferent ??
Cheers

Can't say I have had any experience with these guys in particular, but what kind of important data are we talking about here?? Are we talking about business records, or the collection of family photos that you don't want to lose?? If it's the latter, then in my experience, it's hard to beat making your own backups, be it a removable drive, or DVD backup, and storing them in a secure location.

Main importance is work related, with private being a bonus. Like all businesses, I would be smashed if current active records and projects under way were to be lost due to a fire or theft. Apart from archived records. I guess it's more for peace of mind than anything. I have been backing up for quite a while to an external HD to guard against a computer crash, but that is no benefit against the above noted losses.
