    IE8

Woot, after trying Safari and not being all that impressed IE8 has just been released.

Its 600,000x faster than Safari and 15,000,000 times faster than IE7 and that other browser..... mozilla or firefix or something. I'm happy.

Actually I really don't know what the difference is to be honest, but I'm now up and running on IE8 which will hopefully be an upgrade and compatible with all website. Interestingly it has a button to click if there is an incompatibility and it will revert back for that site.
    Cheers

    You are talking Windows right?

Never used Safari on MS but I heard it was fairly awful. Why you not using Firefox tho?

no way is IE8 faster than firefox.
I just tested it then. plus its sluggish to open new tabs and going back takes ages. Plus you can't do any of the awesome things you can do with firefox adons and scripts.

    Gday Alan,

For the hack user like myself its pretty much the same to be honest. It would be good if it had a spell checker in it like how Safari does. I think that the upgrades are wasted on me but I thing also that they have made adjustments to make it more capable and user friendly for those that flick around with it all day and use its functions, its more secure, has better security. The speed is better and on average quicker than Firefox and Chrome (safari) but the reality is that the differences between them all of measured typically in 1/10's or a second rather than anything dramatic.

Everything is very familiar in IE8 for an IE7 user and the websites all still seem to work with it, unlike in Safari etc.

    Good answer

Personal choice is what it's all about and of course, how you have your own personal machine set up.

By the way, Firefox has a spell checker that includes, IIRC, Aus. English.

For myself I prefer Firefox but then I have been using Mozilla since their first alpha. I am quite comfortable with how things are done there so that I get confused with IE. Of course I don't use Windows much and Firefox is cross-platform, which makes things a whole lot more consistent for me.

If you're happy with IE that's great.

Just be aware that the MS publicity machine should be taken with a grain of salt (as with any publicity machine). I read that video as "we know everyone is faster than us in independent tests, but trust us - we're better".
