BoB and iiNet what ya reckon???

I emailed iinet and am waiting for some info from them.
One thing how do to you connect an answering machine to collect messages when out. the other thing is I don't necessarily want the phone next to my computer, so there would be an extra cost of another hand set to my preferred phone location.
And whether I will get the connection coverage, my 3g phone cuts out in the room I have the PC, do to living in the hills. So would had to sign up and buy a wireless router to find it does not get coverage?

I use a hands free which has answering mc and used the normal way.the only diff I have is there is no dial tone,get used to that and everything is the same as helstra.my cost is 59.95 a mth which gives me 8g peak and 8g offpeak.includes all local and interstate call but not mobile or some 1800 or1300 calls.nked savs use about 60 bucks a mth over our old aapt.:D(and is muchofaster.

Answering machines are 1990s. If you don't answer it goes to voicemail and emails you the recorded message.

You would have the phone near your modem which would be near your existing phone line. My cordless has two handsets so the other is just in another handy location.

My wireless router is going through three brick walls one of them double brick with no problems at all. I too get bad 3G coverage in the house.

Its independent of your os so linux is fine.

I signed up for the 30/30 gig plan. no call charges local and STD. $79.95 per month. Bit shocked as to the setup fee though exchange stuff.
But after a bit of negotiating and being an existing customer, they are re crediting me the first months $79.95
Not happy though that I have to go dialup account until it's all working. Oh well back to the stoneages for a while.
But in the long run, saving the line rental, hand set and silent number fees will be a blessing.
You don't get a silent number on voip as there is no phone book they told me.???

Other way around, there will be no phone book listing using VOIP.

Well just got my little BoB unit with adsl1 connection and i must say i am happy as punch with the faster connection. Only problem i seem to be having is with the hand held. with the volume all the way up its still very hard to hear someone on the other end, does anyone else have this problem???? Otherwise very happy with the unit.

iinet cut my ADSL2 connection today. I told the friendly support guy it was nice if iinet warned me prior with a date.He is going to recommend emails being sent out prior or SMS to advise.
They give you an emergency dialup account, but useless if you no longer havea dialup modem floating around. I ended up buying a cheap internal modem for $20 to get me online for the next few days whilst the Bob get done at the exchange. Dodo prepaid broad band sticks started at Hardly Normal for $145, to much for a few days usage.
Can't wait until the BoB is up and running ;)

;)Gee I forgot how slow dialup was until now. From being on adsl2 13000-18000 down to dial up 42.6kps and having time to make a sandwich and a cup of tea whilst waiting for AULRO to load:(.
I was spoilt... from Prime sirloin steak back to budget mince:eek:.
once spoilt you don't wanna go back.
I can sympathise with the dialups... it stinks!, and the redials
I hope the BoB comes eraly next week.
