Aldi Tevion TPVR2511 Set Top Box

Anybody got an Aldi Tevion TPVR2511 Set Top Box with the 250GB video recorder.

I bought a couple two years ago and have finally installed them but while I can seem to record programs, I can’t work out how to play them back.

    Ant suggestions?

I don't suppose "read the instructions" would be helpful at all?

The instructions are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Add to this the fact that the remote does not actually have a dedicated PLAY button. You have to go into a specific section and select the track you want to PLAY and then press OK.

Problem is, it’s not OK. Doing as instructed say just gets you back the TV channels.

No idea how to do the job, but iirc, ALDI have a helpline that covers most of their stuff.

There's also the dtv forums (google "DTV forum") you may try. Dunno if they will be of any help, but it's worth a look.

Or there's a section on Whirlpool that's pretty good on whatever you call this stuff.

I hate to say it but our father-in-law bought one about 2 years ago. We couldn't get it working correctly. As you say, it would record but little else. We contacted Aldi at the time who suggested we try their repairer, Samsung I think from memory. In the end the unit went back for a full refund.

Yeah, you should consider that maybe it doesn't work.
A outlaw relo worked for ALDI and bouight tevion stuff even cheaper and AFAIK none of it worked for more than a month.

Windows Media Center is the way to go. My PC has a dual tuner card in it and records all the programs I want it to. I can then watch it on any PC in the house that's connected to the PC via a Media Extender. Ice TV Guide lets you set programs you want to record from a web browser as well.

You can also see your photos and play your music that's stored on your PC.

    Very cool...

I've got four of the things and needless to say, even though they have never been used, they are way out of warranty.

I've only tested two so far and the same results so I hope it's just an operating problem.
