    Apple Tablet

Just wondering what the technologically-minded denizens of AURLO thought about this?

Personally, (and I'm letting my inner Apple fan-boy get in the way of any sense of objectivity ) I think it will be amazing, purely because it has to be, and I will probably be spending more money than I can afford on it .

Could it be everything the iPhone became (and more)?

As a fellow fanboy (as I type this on my new i7) I'm sure it will be amazing. However I'm not sure I can see a use for it. ?? I'm sure they will fill a new niche.. and define it. I'm just not sure it's that big a niche.

Depending on what it's like it could be a better travelling option than the MBP 13" but that would depend on how it will run and what software and interfaces it has (for me that means can I download pictures and run at least Aperture on it and an external CF card reader and an external HDD).

There seems to be a big push for tablet systems from Dell, HP, Microsoft and others and the eBook readers too. Looks like Apple might be first out of the bag though.

Will be interesting what ever it is.

It's about time that apple built a tablet. I looked for one when I was shopping for a tablet last year but they had nothing. I bought a Lenovo X200t which is fantastic but I would have really liked to find an Apple product.

In terms of use, with a docking station they become a desktop yet have the retain the versatility and portability (tablets are generally very small and light) of the tablet.

Interesting you should mention Lenovo - they're bringing out a tablet device this year that 'docks' into a clamshell type device that has a fullsize keyboard should you need full notebook capabilities.

I've got a feeling it's going to be too limited to knock off the macbook. Roll on the 27th

Don't think I'll be replacing the MBP for a while yet either. But I think we may be turning the corner on portable devices if it is any good.

Won't be rushing out to by Version 1.0 either. Maybe when it does come time to upgrade the MBP it might be good in a few years from now.

Only 17 days before we find out anything so not long.

I agree that the first version will not be too desirable (I got my 3G the day it came out - I still remember EVERY single app crashed within 2 minutes )

After so many tablets have been 'steved' over the years, you know that this one will work out well... in 18 moths when the next version comes out

until then, i've just got an Asus T91. (that runs Ozi, i might add)
