    Cool manual motor into an auto disco1

    i have a 95 es and would like to put the 3.9 motor out of my manual disco into it, will the auto bolt straight up or are there any differences

    I have a 3.9 V8 out of an auto Disco I in my manual Range Rover. No troubles at all, just had to swap the appropriate parts over.
    I can't see you would have any issues going the other way.

    The clutch on the manual will be a problem, but once you have changed the auto's flex plate and torque converter for the manual flywheel things will work much better!

    I'd be changing the rear crankshaft oil seal while you're at it.

    Which is something I didn't do when I changed mine and I am cursing it now. Leaks like a sieve!

    I'd also be taking a look at this thread Fitting 3.9 in place of 3.5 Discovery if the fronts of your 2 engines are not the same.
