v8 stalling and splutters
my 94 v8 most of time runs great but every now and then it ether stalls when excellerating or starts to splutter and usualy turn off and back on and is fine. untill other day stalled and wouldn't start for quite a while. so had my machenic look at it and determined it could be ignition module. all was good for 2 days and did same thing. any please got any ideas
And Now Battery Light Has come on in Car And Tacho isnt Working Properly
Battery light on and tacho inoperative points towards an alternator issue. Is the belt that drives the alternator still there? Does the alternator turn freely? If so there has probably been an internal failure in the alternator.
It might or might not be related to your running issues. When the original alternator failed in my RRC the light came on and the engine ran badly.
Same here. Last November not long after I had got mine, the light came on, few hours later the tacho stopped working, and next day while taking the kids to school it started running badly but 500m later it just stopped. Replaced the alternator with one from Jag & Landrover spares and everything was hunky dory again.
FYI, on Brisbane Southside at Cleveland is Greg Tunstall Mechanical - British car specialists, Land Rover Diagnostics, Parts & Servicing -phone 3821 0622. Has a very very good reputation in the local area. I rang him this morning about issues with the 1993 that we are buying (current owner still has it at his mechanics) and he was very helpful to me then told me he knew where the car was at present as that mechanic was ringing him to ask questions!!

HI
Rovertech is the best rover mechanic in Brisbane. They looked after my D1, they are pommy mechanics that know landrovers insideout!

I agree with Dave on chief culprits being ignition amp module and fuel pump going out the back door. Having said that crook tacho points to alternator. Have a search on this site for mechanics and you will find things like this. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...-feedback.html These 3 as noted are all northside inc Rovertech who at Brendale I think.
If you want to have crack yourself starting with the cheapest and for a 16 year old truck it will be close to shot is the ignition module. These guys at Slacks Crk can give you a amp for $99. http://www.efiparts.com/ As you have a 94 D1 you might be lucky and have amp located remote from Dizzy (beside coil) and if so get the 3 pin variety they have.
PS Before having alternator itself looked check belt as BigJon suggests inc the belt tensioning pulley as its bearing might be ready to seize. Also check alternator wiring / connections particularly if you have a dual battery setup and isolator.

thanks everyone for the advice but seems to fixed all it was a couple of bare wires in back of alternator touching each other
