    leak around injector pump

I am only a new Disco owner so be kind to me. I have a diesel leak from somewhere around the injector pump on my '96 Tdi and I can't seem to find it. I have hit the side of the engine and pump with degreaser and am going to have another look tomorrow. Is there any place that I should look at first? A common fault perhaps?

pay attention to the rear were the pipes come out of a square block.there is an "o" ring between the block and the main body.

The lift pump on the side of the block often leaks if the pipes/housing cracks. Check there first.

    Spot on.

It's from the lift pump. It's not from the pipes, so it must be from the body. Are these repairable? Or do I get a replacement?

    Not really repairable.

They usually crack the pipes at the body if the hoses are tight (as in no give/flex) so make sure they're OK too. LR released a pig tail hose to absorb the vibrations or you can make a new one.

Right. Replaced the lift pump, new olives and nuts, new gasket, beaudy.

Started it, and it ran for two seconds, then stopped.

I forgot to bleed the system didn't I.

    Bugger.

I have never done this before, and I don't have a book, so it's off to search for an answer.

Will I need another battery? Or two?

It also helps when trying to get it going that you have connected the pipes back up to the lift pump the right way round.
