    spacers/ body lift kit

hey guys im new to the forum. i own a 97 d1 300i auto. i use it most weekends and i am in the lroc.
Anyway. after some other mods that im installing (lockers) im wanting to put 34 inch tires on it. i understand the flaring rim offset and body lift needed but im wondering if i could get away with spacers in the suspension instead as ive scean them before. id prefer them as theyd lift the chassis as well as the body so my angle of dep would be increased. anyone have any experience in this? id need 2-2.5 inch lift out of the spacers.
    cheers

Thorpey, IMHO you have a lot of material, front and back B4 you get too chassis, theoretically you could use 2" plates under the spring plates, but I'm not sure how you would go with the front, with the shocks inside, would be a bit fiddly. if your that keen to lift the chassis, longer springs is the way to go.

Just after following that link, it looks like they make a kit for lifting the chassis with spacers but it looks like more bits than you were thinking.

thanks adam. ive scean the spacers before on cars only small ones though i thought major lift out of them might be pushing it. ive always wanted these Australian 4WD Monthly dedicated to 4WD, 4x4, SUV, Truck, 4 wheel drive and off road community, loaded with tips, tests, reviews, travel, gallery and forum but there are the legalities of it. might have to go the body lift kit.

I stand corrected, doing a bit of browsing, not looking for anything in particular, and found these made by Rovertym.

they list a 2" spacer and add, or to customer spec. bit expesive, i recon. but too each his own.

I notice that LRA do a 2" diff drop kit for a d2, can you do the same thing on a D1?
Late model D1's mostly have airbags, so body lifts are out.
    Or are 4" springs better?

You can get 2" coil spaces on e-bay in polly for around $100 for a set of 4. If you start going past a 2" suspension lift you start getting expensive as you have to correct the steering geometry ect. to have it handle.
    Cheers, David.
