good to hear the cooling system is up to it. had to replace a turbo in a mates hilux the other week after it ran warm for a while! (oil got hot, seals dont like that much...)
I've read about the coolant alarm, sounds like cheap insurance to me.
I used to do 10,000k servicing but had trouble with carbon build up in afew diesels. i also noticed that cheap oils seemed to cause a slight drop in oil pressure after 5000k's (gtx2 and RX super). also makes me get underneath more often to suss everything out.
now now, theres alot to be said for jap diesels; they hold their oil abit better for a start

Try Penrite semi synthetic 5/40.
My old RRC had a oil pressure gauge fitted and oil pressure was up even once it got hotter and under load performed much better than previous one.
I won't mention name of that one.
I change oil every 7000km along with new jocks(oil Filter).

I've heard good things about that penrite semi synth. one of my mates has just started running it in his 4.2 turbo patrol and he's happy so far.
One stupid question i realised i hadn't asked yet; Does the 300tdi use an engine oil cooler? I noticed the plumbing coming from near the filter housing on one i looked at, so i asked the bloke selling it but he didn't know....
