Super cheap sell bendix pads at about $90 a set (front or rear) and dba 4x4 rotors at about $170 each, so that is almost $900 in parts without anything done with callipers. Going to change pads this weekend and see what that does will have a look at rotors and calliper condition while I am there. Not sure how I will tell if the callipers need something done as I have no idea what I am looking for.
Calipers: look for torn dust boots, look inside torn boots for rust. As Schmierer LR says if the pistons move you might be OK.
Super Cheap aren't. Almost everywhere else is cheaper IMHO. Go the internet.

yes that is also a good thing to check for the boots if you are not sure about anything or need help just ask and maybe put some photos up.i have only done 4 and they were on a landcruiser but its a good thing to do yourself as its one of those things you do once you will never forget, with the pads the rule i go by if the pad is the same or less then the thickness of the metal throw them out also to unglaze your pads get a flat bit of cement preferably out side and do figure 8s for a few minutes obviously with the pad side facing down and they will come up a treat

D1s don't have sliding calipers so that's one less worry.

For what you've been quoted, I got the 4 corners fully done including all new bearings, and also had to have one of the tubes replaced,,

I checked to do it myself,, I could'nt have saved much on parts,,(and then of course, "I'm" the one doing all the chasing-petrol $$) and thennnn,, If I'd have got half way through the job and found I'd needed the tube,, DOH,,,
But,,LR specialists,,, gotta love em,, they have everything right there,,

I was happy to shell out the money,, I have that certain,, ummmm,, safe feeling now,,

You should be able to do the whole lot a lot cheaper than that your self

Even if you have all 4 calipers rebuilt new rotors and pads it will still cost less than 1000 bucks
Land Rover Discovery Series 1 Rear Brake Disc Kit - eBay Other, Brakes, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 21-May-10 19:59:43 AEST)

Land Rover Discovery Series 2 Front Disc Brake Set - eBay Brake Pads, Brakes, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 22-May-10 18:24:39 AEST)

Around 400 to have the calipers rebuilt all round

And your done spend the rest on what ever

We had a good look over the weekend and the only things that we could see that needed to be done was rear pads and rear rotors. Callipers looked fine so did front rotors and pads.
