    D1 5 speed manual gearboxes?

    Gday all,
    Can anyone tell me if a 5 speed manual gearbox out of a 97 v8 disco will fit a 99 tdi disco ?

    And if there is a differance can it be made to fit ???

    I don't think it will fit. IIRC the input shaft length is different.

    OK, So they are different !, Can anyone tell me if its possible to swap the input shafts ??

    I'm guessing no one knows if you can change the bell housing and input shafts ??

    Well you can swap the input shaft but it means the 'box has to come apart/split and the mainshaft out.

    thanks for your reply, I am reasonably happy to do this, was just tring to work out if its possible or there were any other differences that would pop up and bite me !
    from looking at the exploded view on the Rave disc it looks like there is a front cover plate that way be removable ?
