    Diesel injectors

Hi all, reciently purchased a tdi, spoke to the previouse owner, (one owner) 216,000K and asked him what does the car need in terms of servicing, and the only thing he could come up with was the injectors need servicing, havn't been done since 100,000 service, so i thought i will just go out and buy some new ones till I saw the price.
Heres the question, can they be serviced for ever or do they need replacing every ????k ?
Am I able to pull them out hit them with a wire brush, stick em back in and bobs your uncle?
Your opinion would be greatly appreciated once again
    Regards
    Brett

300Tdi injectors can be serviced even though the body is crimped together but no one does them as it's more expensive than buying new.

May I suggest if you really do want new ones to source them from the UK direct. Try Paddocks, Frog island, etc.
    Much cheaper than buying here.

My brother sourced his injectors from Paddock Spares - Land Rover, Range Rover Parts & Accessories - Discovery, Defender and Freelander - was around $420 delivered to Vic.

With respect..what makes you think they need replacing?....I have mine in my 300tdi since at least 250k and they're still going strong with no hunting or missing...what I do though is put a litre of petrol in my diesel tank every once in a while to keep them clean...by coincidence I have just had the head off and the injectors were still in good condition...so I kept them in...

    Just sayin' like...

Maybe you could try and good clean first before parting with any creds?

Try a couple of litres of petrol in a full tank and see if that pays dividends??

    Good luck

THanks Ohlins, Petrol aye, like instead of a diesel injector adative?
The previous owner 216,000k (original owner) said to me when asked "what would you do to the disco if you were keeping it" and his reply was "I would have the injectors serviced. Now I can only assume he said that because he has done it befor and noted they need it again.
Having said that I drove it from the Gold coast to Bowen NQ 1300k and there was no surging, or flat spots, starts perfectly but does show its fair share of smoke on start up and got 919k to a 75L refill.

Fair bit of smoke on start up is a 300Tdi trait live with it

Just checked my service history...my injectors were replaced by previous owner at 122000kms.....there's now 316,000kms on it....so that's 200k and not 250k as I first thought...much of a muchness I'd say...

    Still going OK too....
