    Newbie with some issues.

    Hey all,

First time poster on this site, although i have been reading the forums for a while and have found some great info. I've just recently bought my first Land Rover, a '92 200tdi manual Discovery, it is great. Hope you guys can help me with a few issues. I've searched the forums but came up blank:

Firstly: My passenger mirror is slightly damaged. Are 300tdi mirrors interchangable with the 200tdi ones?? I know they're a different shape, but i can get a set of 300tdi ones for a great price, providing they fit.

Second: Sometimes the engine won't stop running when i switch the key off, and i have to stall it to get it to stop. A mate told me it might be the fuel solenoid, but i'm not too sure what i'm looking at. I'm quite mechanically minded, but its my first venture into a diesel. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Third: My reverse lights don't always work, not sure if it is a bad wire or some sort of faulty switch??

Last: I am running 265/70 R16's on the factory steel wheels and they scrub on full lock. Is there any way to prevent this?

I know i'm asking a lot, but i'm really stuck on these things. Hopefully once i get a bit more knowledgable i will be able to help out some others.

    Thanks in advance, Nick.

Welcome to the forums...no doubt you'll get all the help you need here from the inmates...

Make adjustment as necessary to take out the rubbing....although I have a 300tdi...sometimes my reversing switch stops working...a wiggle of the wire helps..failing that a switch can be fitted.. I use www.paddockspares.com and www.xe.com to find out what the costs are....

Solinoid should be at the back of your injection pump...you'll see a wee wire going to it...an easy fix..

Don't think the mirrors are the same...though I could be wrong...

    hey par,

with regard to the mirrors, how damaged is it? could you get away with a new lens?
either way best bet to check is to pull your mirror off and check bolt holes and mount shape. to do this pull the plate off from inside the door, a small flat head should pull the plate off enough to get your fingers in. then just 2 phillips screws to the mirror from memory. remember to unplug the electrics to the mirror.

    hope this helps

With engine running on. May be some one fitted a turbo timer?
