    Taco Readings high - 300Tdi

After coming home from a recent trip my taco meter seems to be reading that its over revving but the auto seems to be changing gears normaly. with posting a previous thread on my auto box in the disco i know i have a problem with the governor in the mornings as it over revs and then kicks in seconds but once warm all is good. has anyone come across this problem before in there 300tdi disco's?

example i will be travelling say around 100k's or 80k's and the taco will sit around the 3grand mark, going up hills when she struggles to get up and put back in 3rd gear it will sit close to 4grand on the taco. could it be a loose connection or dirty connection? if so where can i find the plug for the taco?

It runs of the back of the alternator, I have not got my car or rave with me, so cant supply colour. From memory about a 6 mil female onto a male. If its loose they usualy fluctuate.

MMMmmm funny you should say that cause i just got it changed over for the third time a few days ago. First 2 they put in was a 65amp for a defer now its a proper 100amp one. when you muck around with the alt, do you just disconnect the positive term or both? will check it all out.

Just checked the wires on the back of the Alt and they all seem fine and intact. i have a small coolant leak coming from the thermostat housing hose which runs coolant down the wiring for the Alt any chance this would be making the tacho read wrong?

got the bigger one and PROPER one after the trip from talla. but cant remember if the prob arose after that trip or after he put the new alt in. lol

yesterday when in low range i could not run it in second low as it would rev out too much so now using third to get up hills. I mean if the hill is steep enough i can use 2nd low but i use second low on all up hills and let he cost up but now it revs too much. in normal drive it seems fine i think, who know just bloody drive the thing and see whats happens i guess lol then we'll know what the prob was when car go boom lolol

Now i seem to recall everything was all good and dandy after the trip to talla. so i take it it must have been when he put the new alt in. might have to splice all the wiring behind the alt and start off fresh and see what happens. OR the auto is about to go boom which wouldnt surprise me lol. if it does might have to cut a hole in the floor on the drivers side and go flintstone style for a while lolol
