Thread: orange dash light

does it normally flash when unlocking the car..

if so I would say your immobiliser is possibly playing up thats all I can think of down there in the middle. is it an orange/red colour?

its orange with an explamation mark on it. but that is very likely possibility now i think about it

I have a disco 1 but a Tdi and i was only reading the manual today of all days. In the Tdi it is to do with the car alarm or imobaliser, are you using the key to enter the car or the remote, usint the remote will cancell the alarm and just the key is like if you lock the car up with the kids in the car or dog so itis sensing movement from the sensor up behind the front passengers head

It sounds like you have a pre-95 early dash model. It is the the warning light for the Engine Management I believe. There isn't any alarm/immobiliser on that model (well there is, but not likely here) so it wouldn't be that.
