Good tip and I remember doing this with my old hilux, wish I had remembered prior.

Thanks mate. Have given this a good read:cool:.
Thanks. Mine already has the brass plugs. There is some rust, not too bad though, around the top windows which I will get to shortly and will check under the mats soon.
Todays trip to Newcastle I thought it went even better, although the stereo died just before we got home, but a tweak of the pump would be great.
What about the silicone hoses I keep reading about, are they worth it and where is the best place to source them?
Have a look here for silicon hoses
SamcoSport Rest of World - Car Kits
SFS Performance - Silicone Hoses
There are many others that offer silicone hoses for Tdi Discovery's, they are worth it for the turbo hoses but the rest are just to look good, although they will last a lot longer than rubber hoses.
Worth taking out the intercooler and giving it a good clean out too, they tend to collect oil and can take the edge off the performance.
You didn't mention manual or auto, if auto get it serviced, every single car I ever bought in Australia needed an autobox service.
Just gone back and reread the thread and you say the autobox has just been serviced, make sure the oil is bright cherry red and spotlessly clean, if not, change.
