I'm watching this thread with keen interest! I've been reading up on 2+ replacement shockers and have pretty much settled on the same set of ProComp's.
Where did you get them and how much for if you don't mind me asking?
As some of you may be aware I fitted some Terrafirma big bore shocks to the defender recently. I was happy with what I got so I decided to get some for the disco.
Although I'm not fitting the big bore shocks to the disco but the +2" Pro Sport shocks instead.
I currently run +2 ProComps and have been very happy with them for the last 4ish years however the car has started skipping around on the road a bit when hitting bumps. The Procomps have around 50 thou on them perhaps a bit more. Some may feel thats not long but that is off orading miles as well as daily driving miles and they have on occasions taken a bashing off road
The Terra shocks are reasonably inexpensive as shocks go so I figured I would give them a go especially as there open and closed length is is a tad more then what I currently have. (I can't find the figures that I worked out so dont ask me what they are)
I'm going off road Sat so I will let you know how they go![]()

I'm interested as well.
I got procomps from the Uk
I got the Terra's from Rovacraft they were 399 landed however I think I might of just been in the right place at right time. As I think they maybe around $105 something like that. If you go on the website I think if you click on the Terra link I'm sure there is a price list there. It might even be $99 a shock I can't remeber now..
I would have a look for you but I'm on the itouch so it would be painful

I took a photo side by side I don't know if it is a deception thing but the main shock body looked a fraction smaller on the T's however the T's don't step down at the bottom like the P's do...So are they a fraction smaller in the body I'm not sure.
you can see in this pic though that the T's do have a larger shaft..I think the T's are supposed to be 20mm chromed so I would be guessing the P's must be around 15mm.
the other thing I noticed as well although not know if it has any significance is at the base of the shock where the shaft enters the body it is only welded on two spots on the P's where as (lets call it the neck as I don't know its real term) is welded the hole way around on the T's
You can just see what I'm talking about on this pic with the P's if you look in the darkened area underneath the washer.
as soon as it is all finished I will flex it up on our flex mound outside the house and take another pic..
Just incase some of you don't know also the T's have internal bumpstops built in.

Looks like you dont have much up travel left in the shock. Do you have ext bump stops?
benny you will see that in the bottom of my last post....its says
that the Terrafirmas have internal bump stops to stop shock damage on up travel.
But the answer to you question is no I haven't and I didn't when the pro comps were on either....talking to a friend I believe bumpstops in most cases are not required with only a regular 2" lift.
I still also have my font sway bars connected so the rears also don't work as hard as they could.

on the Hill
Perhaps I might get the car out later and measure bump stop clearance..
in the last pic you will see that, that is the maximum down travel which is not that much different to the procomps, it is hard to see in this pic but the wheel is about 2" off the ground at that point.

Reading is not my style, I like pics,
The only real way of telling if you need ext stops is to pull the springs out, and see if the bump stop touch before the shocks bottom out, although you should leave some room for bump stop compersion(sp).
I not sure about internal bump stops I doubt the shock mounts where designed to take the force of a bottom out.
