    questions after diy

    Hi Guys,

I've just replaced my Vac advance in my 94 3.9 V8 an al went well with 1 exception...

The screw on the side of the dizzy (rhs if you are looking in from the front bumper) was an absolute pig to get out. As a result, it was nigh on impossible to get in and it kept falling out. Any hints on what tool to use to get it back in and will it do any damage in the mean time only having 1 screw holding it in place (the 1 screw is tight, neither were tight before I replaced the part)

Also, since doing this, I had a real juddery start until I warmed the engine up, I always get this but not usually as bad. Is this the screw issue or is it just due to the incredibly crappy weather?

    Cheers

The best way would have been to remove the dizzy to replace the vac advance!

Do you have a timing light? if not you will have to borrow one from a mate.

Since you have dont most of the work already, mark the position of the dizzy (make sure you get this perfect) and slacken the dizzy locating clamp and then spin the dizzy around to get access to this screw.
then put the dizzy back where it was - and doublecheck the timing with a timing light.
    goodluck.

I did mine in the car. I just loosened the dissy and turned it so it was facing the front. One of my capsulated treads came out so I had to use a screw and nut to secure it.
    Cheers, David.
