    revs at 100ks

    hi there ,
have a 1994 discovery v8 auto, eventually got it on the road,
is 2800 revs right when doing 100ks or is this to many revs,
does the same when coasting along , no load,
revs do drop when you hit 90, apparantly dropping into overdrive,

    thanks

Mine is a 96 Discovery V8i Auto and does around 2600rpm at 100kph. Mine is the 3.9 injected V8. Hope that helps.

    i run 245/75/16's.

I remember a post so time back on this topic. I think it should be around 2200 to 2400 from memory. Mine's a 3.9 Auto and was around 2200, fitted bigger tyres now so it is different.
    Cheers, David.

found out to-night that this 1994 model has the gearbox and front diff from a 1993 model,
    would this alter ratios ?

I also have a 94 Discovery, doing around the same rpm at 100kph as yours.

We also have a 96 Discovery and so does my father,
both of them do around 2200 at 100kph.

All vehicles are V8I and auto with standard size wheels/tyres
Havent worked out whether it's the diffs or transfer case which has the different ratio's.
I know it's not the transmission as it's been replaced from a 97 disco, with no change in RPM
    Cheers Luke

Is your gearbox kicking into overdrive at 80kph?

your torque convertor is meant to lock up above 80.

    hi steve,
    thanks for replying,
yes when i reach 84 ks ,there is a kickin and revs only drop 200,
then when i continue to accelerate slowly to 100, it
    sits on 2800,

i thought revs dropped further but i might be mistaken,

    thanks
    darryl.
