An Allard 2 stage Intercooled System

    Hi
I am contemplating getting an Allard bolt on Intercooler which utilizes the original intercooler which makes it a 2 stage Intercooled system. I am trying to get a little more low down power which Allard claims.
Allard recommends this system if you have an Air Con on your 300tdi, which I do. It is also quite cost effective compared to replacing the original.
    Here is a photo below

Has anyone had one of these fitted and have you noticed much difference in power, specifically low down power?
Or does anyone know of anyone who has done this? Have they noticed any difference?

    Cheers and thanks

    Hi Peppercorn,
Its doubtful you'll notice much, if any, difference.
Larger intercoolers are usually used in conjunction with other mods like increased fuelling and boost. The reason is to try and keep EGT's low.
So, if you're planning on the other mods, go for it, otherwise save your coin...

Thanks mate, it seems strange to me that in one line they say that the stock standard Intercooler doesn't allow enough airflow and then in another line they say if you bolt one of these on, the stock intercooler will be good enough.

So does that intercooler goe between the chassis rails?
If so a Sierra Cosworth one should fit there, I have one lined up for 300TDi auto with a/c and edc. Just got to get around to fitting it.
It cost me NZ$50 off www.trademe.co.nz

i cant see how fitting one will affect air flow, but the point of an intercooler is to cool the air and make it more dense, which subsequently improves the combustion process and thus gives more power.

If you want more grunt invest in the bruce davis injector pump mod, truck will blow a bit more smoke but the power is noticeable. Then add the larger intercooler, youl will see a difference then.
