Distributor hose and fuel pressure regulator hose

    Hi all,

Well car has been running like a pig for some time... not restarting after a run when hot etc.. anyway after getting all the settings right (timing, throttle pot, MAF) and still not getting any better results, I took it to my local mechanic who is a very good bloke and good with rangies etc. Turns out the previous owner has had a fiddle and there is no hose running to the fuel regulator and the hose coming out of the distributor is attached to the nipple at the top of the plenum, which is apparently not a good thing... I have a haynes manual, but for the life of me cannot work out where the distributor vacuum hose goes, what actually attaches to the nipple on the top of the plenum and where the hose that should attach to the fuel pressure regulator shold go. Any descriptions or directions to diagrams would be much appreciated... cheers

Vacuum hose goes to spud on top of throttle body, fuel reg hose comes from Idle Air Control (IAC) valve body (on back of plenum) to fuel reg.. While there it might be an idea to remove IAC and clean, or at least check that the 3 Allen bolts are tight, Regards Frank. P.S. check the Vac. diagphram on dissy is working by sucking on vac. hose and hold tounge over hole, should stick.

    Thanks,

I will check it in the morning... the IAC valve has all its hoses attached, I will go and take a pic to show you what I mean.

    Cheers

    .
That's where it goes as it is ported vacuum, ie it only gives vacuum advance at certain throttle openings.

Well, I will have to have a work to my mechanic then, sounds like he is telling me a bit of a phurfy, I had a good look this afternoon and could not see any "unplugged holes" the iac valve to fuel pressure regulator is giving me a bit perplexing as the iac has all the hoses connected to something....

    Cheers

Well if your IAC and Fuel Pressure reg are the same as mine in my 92RRC, then there should be only one vacuum hose that goes from a nipple on the IAC housing to the Fuel pressure regulator.

Photos, or as they say in the classics, a picture paints a thousand words....

Pic 1 is where the distributor vac advance hose is plugged

Pic 2 is the fuel pressure regulator - well unregulator at present

Pic 3 is where one of the IAC hoses is currently attached

Pic 4 is now where the IAC hose is attached (previously on the nipple on the top of the passenger side rocker cover)

Pic 5 is where the second IAC hose (the one with the inline one way valve) is attached) might not be able to see it but it is the little blue box on the drivers side of the firewall... I think it probably needs to be attached to the rocker cover nipple maybe...

any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

    Cheers

The hose from the rocker cover (pic 3 ) goes to the clean side of the air cleaner box. Plastic air boxes have a small nipple facing the guard. Pic 5 shows the hose that supplies vacuum to the heater control panel.

The nipple behind the IAC is hard to see, you need to search with your fingers behind to feel it. The hose from the fuel pressure reg plugs onto it. The thin hose from the rocket cover nipple goes to the aircleaner
