    roof liner/ felt

    my 95/96 v8i disco roof liner has com away, what have you guys done to keep it up for the time been?? trying to keep cost down for now as i just replace a whole heap of costly things from the partners stolen hand bag

    any ideas guys would be great

    Think there was a thread in projects and tutorials on the subject where one of the blokes just pulled the old stuff off and removed the spongy stuff went and got some new material from auto trimmers and glued it directly on. I am going to do the same thing on mine.

    we used leftover speaker carpet on a mates car. it looks really nice.
    the only problem with using such a thick covering was fitting it all back under/into where it should go. managed to get it back in, but I wouldn't suggest using anything thicker than say 2mm.

    No glue will work as the sag is caused by the foam backing disintegrating.
    I generally use a selection of strategically placed map pins .

    Look for an upholsterer that doesnt charge an arm and a leg. Got my disco redone a couple of years ago, think it only cost about $200 and it looks a million $.

    roof liner .....christmas tree clips painted same colour as lining do a good job there are already a few of these in the roof lining anyway so don't look out of place

    the cheapest way to do it is remove the headlining, and the backing board, clean it up remove the old glue and the foam, take it to an small upholsterer that you have already got a price off, ( steer clear of any of the larger businesses) if it cost more than $200 go somewhere else. its takes between 15-20 mins to do the gluing and trimming by the experts all you do is reinstall it inthe vehicle.
    I go to a bloke in Ballina, has a small business he is a kiwi, but i don;t hold that against him as he is a reasonable bloke, I have watched him do them about 4 times its quick and cheaper when you take it in yourself.
