Unhappy Free vacuum valve on inlet manifold

    Hello

    Need a little help please.

I am driving a '97 Disco V8i on direct injection LPG. On my manifold are three vacuum sucking valves. Two of them are in use but the most forward one is not being used (see picture). On advice of my local Land Rover repair shop I put a plug on it (see picture).
The problem now is that the engine runnig idle on LPG is better without the plug then with the plug. With the plug the idle refs are a bit low; around 500 rpm. Specially with a cold engine, and the transmission in drive, the idle engine speed on LPG is very hesitant.
On petrol there does not seems to be any problems.
I recently had the LPG specialist tune up the LPG system. During the testdrives directly afterwards the car was running fine. This was with the plug on and a warm engine...
Any ideas what, where and how to adjust?

    I am contemplating putting this

    V8Wizard

modification on, since I have the valve availeble any way. Has anybody done this to their car? Does it work?

    Thanks heaps!

Most hard core people I know did the opposite, ie they plumbed a small air pump into the dizzy, to give positive pressure. I can see the vacuum actually pulling water in.
I had a custom UK rubber cover on mine for a while and it worked OK.

The electronic dizzys are far less susceptible to stopping in damp than points ones.
When I had a 77 RRC in the Nissan trials in 1999 I submerged it in water up to the bonnet line on the LHS . The car stopped but I was able to restart and reverse out of the dam on a few cylinders .
IMHO most water that gets in is not from steam but gets in the join between the cap and body flung up from the fan. I always just put a bit of silastic around that area and have done water crossings up to 600MM with no prep, no stopping, and no damage except for water filled spots and headlights in my 92RRC.
In Australia I think the problem is overrated but in UK where you get cold and damp most of the time there may be some justification.

By doing that wouldn't you just create another Vacuum leak and affect the engines idle? As it will constantly be sucking air from outside

Why not connect whatever is supposed to be there, or take the advice of your local LR shop, Regards Frank.

    Thanks guys.
I would like to plug on there whatever suppose to be on there. I checked it with an other V8, at my local LR repair shop, to find out what suppose to be on. Unfortunately the car we checked did not even have a valve. It had a screw in plug :-S
So if anyone knows what suppose to be on there; please let me know.

Maybe the car had a Maxidrive at some stage.
