    Bumper modifications?

I`ve been pondering adding a winch (at a later stage) and some suitable recovery points to my 1994 Disco Tdi.

I’m not a fan of massive ARB bull bars and the like – I quite like the British approach of a low profile reinforced bumper (with tucked-in winch mount).

To this end I’m looking at modifying the standard bumper by:

    - Trimming the plastic skirt
    - Laminating and plating the mounting points
    - Fabricating backing plates for either a Dixon Bate 3.5t tow jaw, or two swivel mounting plates (mounted in line with the chassis rails).

On top of this I`m looking at the Bearmach winch trays – adding this into the standard bumper and fabricating suitable replacements for the plastic end caps.

Anyone have any experience doing this, or any suggestions?
