That was why I made a point of saying mine takes 60lt of gas to fill it up so there could be no room for misinterpretation

Hi Guys, just want to jump in on this thread if thats ok? I hav ea 96 series 1 3.9 running dual fuel ,WC 74 gas (3xscuba tanks) and orig petrol underneath. Now I only get approx 130- 140 ks on gas from full to empty (not cutting out empty). From what I am reading here Iam getting no where near what Iam supposed to!!!!.I am pretty sure my timing is not 10 deg advance, should that make that much difference??I also just had the gas system seviced 6 weeks ago....

Yep timing, plugs, leads and mixture need to be spot on for lpg to get reasonable economy. These things have been mentioned frequently on this forum, p.m. me if you need more specifics.

3.9 (supercharged), takes 58L (80% of capacity) and does 180 - 205 klms depending on how it is used that week.

The gas installer said that's about right as you use 20-25% more gas than petrol for the same running (uses a manifold injection system).

.....So, if you work out the cost of gas (86 cpl) versus LPG (130 ish cpl) in Tas atm, it's just not not worth the cost of converting (5.7k)

As far as using more LPG than petrol, this occurs if you leave the timing set for petrol. I advanced it to 12 degrees and now it uses the same. Does not ping on petrol either. As someone said on here, a low compression V8 can take a lot of advance.
