Thread: Gearbox woes.....

Dear all.... I am the proud owner of a 92' 3.5 ltr 5 speed Manual Discovery with a very sore gearbox. I would like to purchase parts or a replacement and as much information as anyone would care to impart! I am, at the moment, not too well off financially so any help offered is more than generous. Mate you havn't described what sort of woe's you've got

So others can help. Your 1st step would probably to get it thoroghly

checked by an LR mech or decent gearbox place & get an I idea what might be wrong. Approx price to remove overhaul & refit may as well throw a clutch in while it,s apart guestimate say G/box & t/case $2,500-$4,000 clutch $300-450

Probably worth more than the car or you could go a 2nd hand wreckers etc

plus r&r still $1,500- 1000ish & still 2nd hand no idea of mechanical
condition & useful life.

Spent $4,000 on mine but all good now & it's a 93 3.9.
