    D1 TDI Diff ??

I'm Convinced that the whine in my 1996 Auto tdi is from the rear diff, When i first serviced it i found water in the rear diff oil. I replaced the wheel bearings recently and when i removed an axle to re tighten one of the wheel bearings after a month there was rust on the lock nut. Saying this has anyone done the bearings in a diff and have a cost or a rough cost if i get it done in a shop. Alternative a rough price on a second hand diff center. I will be pulling it out next week but would like an idea of what i'm up against.

shouldnt cost you more than about $80 for the bearings and about 3 hours to set it up if its your first diff.
