Roof Racks
Hi guys,
What roof racks are currently available in Oz? At present the only contoured style rack I have seen is the TJM type, has anyone got one of these in black?
What other options are there out there?
Cheers

I've been after one of those TJM racks for a while now. Someone offered me one a few months ago. It was steel and it was black. I didn't bite as it needed a full sandblast and new powdercoating.
I'll probably end up settling for a smaller ARB rack or something similar, anything big and strong enough to carry a second spare and a tent.

Best bet is to get a set of Rhinro Bars and then a rack to fit accross them. It's not contoured but there is no fuel savings with a contoured rack. I have found with just the Rhino bars sitting on top of the roof my economy suffers by 1-1.5lts/100kms. Other option is to fit a new rear bar with swing away second tyre mount and stick the tent in the back depending on how big it is..

On my 97 Disco I have one of those Rhino Rack aluminium racks. It is only a small one so that it only covers the back of the roof leaving the roof rails free to be used for something else.

Thanks guys. I've looked at the Rhino options, but like Milsy I'd love a good nick black TJM contour rack at a reasonable price. They say patience is a virtue!

I have a TJM rack. It has a flat profile, not contoured to the roof. I know it doesn’t look as good but I think it makes it much more useful for stacking gear. Easily holds my weight when i’m up there strapping gear down.

Don't see why not either way.
Lots of aluminium products are powdercoated. That would be my preference.
