    question on the d1 3.9L v8i

    hey guys

    i have the loudest tick/tack noise so im sure iv stuffed a liffter
    question is with a magnetic pole can you take out the old hydrolic lifter without taking off the head??? and pulling it up through the the push rod hole?????????

    No but you can remove the inlet manifold and remove the lifter that way. But first thing give it a few good hard revs, sometimes this will clear a lifter. Check your oil level/pressure too.

    I had the same problem with my series 1 a few months ago. I changed the lifters by removing the inlet manifold , ive now done this a few times and it only takes a couple of hours. My only prob was when she was back together it still made the noise. I had a closer look around and found that there was an exhaust leak on the under side of the manifold gasket. $20 and 1 hour later no noise and been good ever since. Just be sure thats its definately lifters before doing any work as it can be expensive. As I found $20 bucks added to the $250 for the lifter job

    Mine had the same problem and it was recommended that I use the thickest oil possible. It helped, at most I only hear it for about 5 seconds at start up now when it use to be embarassingly loud.

    on closer inspection i found the last klower bolt on the manifold on the back to not be dun up it come undone i think i found my proplem will change the gasket and oils and see if it dose the job
