    Dash Illuminations

    G'day all,
Just a quick question before I disassemble my instrument panel to change bulbs.

New (to me) Disco 1 which I've not driven in the dark until tonight. The needles on the speedo, tacho, fuel and temp gauge are almost impossible to see. Most cars I've driven in the past have bulbs that illuminate the needles as well as the backing - is the same true of the Disco, or is it expected that the needles for the gauges are very dark and hard to see?

I'll have some more questions later on, but thats the most pressing for me at the moment :-)

    Thanks in advance!
    Steve.

Hope this helps, just went down to disco and yes all lit up like a xmas tree, though mostly via above the dials from the cieling of the instrament pannel, there does seem to be bulbs behind temp and fuel but it seems to be mostly lit up from above.
    Good luck

just a thought, nothing else is not working, might be a fuse.

If it is any help... I replaced all of the globes in the dash assembly, but in the process, replaced the globes behind the switches as well as the 2 on the top of the dash, that point down towards the front of the instruments, with T5 red LED's...... at night, the red LED's make the pointers stand out much better.... and gives the front a slight red look......

    Thumbs up

Thanks guys, I'll pull the instrument panel out next weekend and change the bulbs over, I suspected it should be easier to see than it is.

The backing lights up OK, it's just the needles that are almost impossible to see. I might do the red LED thing too, sounds like something a little different :-)

    Cheers!
    Steve.
