OK if you had to rev it hard to get up hill. Sit at the lights doing 3000 / 4000 revs and drive the bag out of it for 2 weeks. I don't think you have enough active brain cells to start with, sorry. Ok the thing may have had problems. You should have taken it back straight away. You probably caused more problems. Should not haven driven it far at all. Total lack of care in my opinion

mmmmmmmmmm not sure that is right..at least the other party has to concent to the recording (i think).

otherwise I thought it was illegal to record anyone for purposes of surviellance or to prove wrong doing without having a warrant to do so.

I'm sure there is something in the surveillance act about it..I thought thats why private investigators can't record phone conversations, and why yoou also have the option to say no to phone conversation being recorded for training purposes whne calling people like telstra phone operators

EDIT: groucho I think your being a little unfair there...to be honest

No he is right - I checked it on the Qld privacy website - you can record a conversation that you participate in without telling the other person - BUT it is unlikely to be able to be admitted as evidence in a court case.

In QLD the issue is not the recording but how it is used.

Other states have different rules though.

yep totally agree but according to the mechanic "it was fine thats what they do" if you'd read the original post properly before slagging me you'd have seen that. and it only started revving out at idle the day before it over heated. before that it had idled fine but had no power when driving, thats why it needed to be revved out when driving.
have spoken to at least 4 other diesel mechanics abotu this and they all agree the workshop stuffed up plain and simple.

I agree, personnel attcks are not what this site is all about.

Points of view differ, otherwise we would all be the same, that be boring.
How one says something is important and no need for that.

People make mistakes and hopefully your mechanic will come to the party.
He possibly has insurance cover for that sort of incidence.

yeah I'd keep pushing (with things in writing). As mentioned, he will have insurance.

I once had a mechanic cause my transfer case to fail and he claimed it on his insurance and had it rebuilt. But he took pride in his work, admitted the fault and had the claim on motion without any arguing.

    Good luck!
