D2 front shock towers on to a D1?

    Has anyone tried this?

Am looking at doing this to my disco, And there lots of "D2 doesn't fit D1", but if someone hasn't tried, I'll give it a go.

    Any particular reason?
Are they a taller tower so you can fit longer shocks?

The heights are the same. The D1 runs a pin type mount at the top, the D2 runs an eye type mount at the top.

    Thanks for the replies.

Looking at D2 towers for when I do a lift and replace the shocks.

Might have to go to Dealer view both side by side for chassis mounting flange sizes.

I don't see any advantage at all in having a different top mounting, there are ample makes and models of shock to fit to the front of a D1, i can't see any reason why you would want to do this.

Best reason I can see to do it at the moment is it will make changing shocks easier.

    Will look into it more.

One has to ask how many times you intend changing shocks
