Lightbulb What is the difference between Disco 1 & 2 rear bumpers?

    G'day All,

I am keen on a Kaymar rear bumper/ wheel carrier for my Series 1 Disco. Trouble is, Kaymar don't make one, and after speaking to them on the phone, they don't do custom work. I am a diesel fitter by trade, & I know heaps of good boilermakers. I was thinking of ordering one for a Disco 2, and getting it modified to suit. Does anyone know what the differences are between Disco 1 & 2 rear bumpers?

not sure on how the mountings etc would be different, the standard rear bumpers are somewhat different.

The D2 is 100mm or so longer than the D1, not sure what affect that has.

They are very different in the way that they mount. My friend and I just got custom ones made. He has a D2 and I have a D1. He basicly made two different bars. I don't think I would buy the D2 bar and try to change it.

On my D1 we had to weld a mounting point to the chassis on both sides. I will take a photo if you like.

    Cheers,
    Peter
