Depend on what tools you have. You will need some sockets and extensions to get to the bolts around the bellhousing. To make it a bit more manageable you will need to seperate the tc from the gbox. It is a bit big and and heavy so you will most likely need someone to give you a hand or you will need to rig a floor jack with an adaptor to balance the parts on.

I have pulled gboxes out of holdens and fords but decided to give the lr box a miss. I suspect that it is a case of having the money and not the time. When I was younger it was the other way around time rich and cash poor. How things change

Trolley jack, axle stands, gearbox stands, lead light, concrete floor, creeper board, lotsa tools, patience, friendly advice, beer. Should be a steep learning curve but everyone has to do a job for the first time. Not too easy but not as hard as you think.

Not the best job, it's time consuming and heavy, we have done a few with the g'box and transfer all as one but it does make it heavy
if you do remove the transfercase, remember not to mix up the front transfer bolts with the rear ones. the front transfer case bolts (the ones that go through the gearbox and screw into the trans case) are a bit shorter then the rear ones, so if you put the wrong ones in from the front they can catch on the internals also remember to seal the front bolts with some sort of silicone or similar seeing they go through into the transcase, if not sealed they can leak oil.

Engine crane through the door is my preferred method leaving the box and transfer attached.

Mine is out at the moment if you want to wander down off the hill for a look-see as to what's involved. This is the second time the box has been out in 100km so its getting easier.

    Cheers

Its not that hard at all, just a couple of long extensions and a trolley jack. I just dropped the gearbox and transfer box out together.
