usually its from lack of use,,![]()
Hi all,
I've had a search trhough some of the threads and cant seem to find anything like whats going on with the disco.
I went for a bit of a play on Sunday and found myself a little stuck only a short distance into the bush after all the rain that was about....
I went to engage the CDL but couldnt physically move it! I got my mate who was with me to give it a go thinking that I was just being weak... but still no go.
I can select high, neutral and low but nothing else, there is no sideways selection at all.
So without any difflock i had to resort to getting a blasted PATROL to pull me out of all things!
I have taken the console and such out to gain access to the selector lever but there doesnt seem to be any obvious signs of obstruction.
If anyone has had this happen what caused it? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance!
Brenton.

Get underneath and give the linkages a good blast with WD40, with a bit of work they will eventually come free.
Could well be to lack of use! I'll try the WD and see how that goes.
Cheers
Well its all sorted now! Managed to pull the selector box off the top of the transfer.... after tearing the console apart....
I wont be neglecting the selection of difflock anytime soon i can tell you that much! There was a very minimal amount of surface rust that rubbed off with the finger and some WD40! But the CDL pin was siezed into its housing so a little patience with some WD and a hammer and pin worked it loose and free like new!
FEW!!! What a relief that was! Now all i have to do is reassemble the centre console and remember to put the silencing foam back in like I forgot to when i had to access the top of the gearbox!
