    after market oil and water gauges how to fit

    has anyone fitted aftermarket gauges to a 96 discovery v8i im new to the landrover scene and want to get this right

    yep.

    oil pressure gauges both electric and pilot tube type can easily be fitted via a T piece off of the low oil pressure warning switch

    water temp can be done a couple of ways my favorite is to remove the bleed screw from the radiator tank on the drivers side and fit an engine saver type unit in its place.

    but you dont really need to do either for monitoring pressure/temp if all you want is more gauges to look at. with the proper checks done at service time and the

    fitting them for engine saving reasons the engine saver units are pretty hard to go past.

    i was worried about over heating i dont want to damage the engine of course ive purchased aftermarket manual gauges to hopefully get a true engine block temp and oil prssure but am unsure where to place these on the engine as this is my first land rover an dont know alot about these engines

    I wouldnt bother fitting them the if normal temp gauge is working and the oil pressure will be fine with just the dash warning light.

    theres nothing special about the rover v8 engine when compared to other v8 engines plumb the guages up as you would for any other engine and you'll be ok.
