    Howdy

I'm a Newy local and (coincidentally) also have a 1998 300tdi auto disco. All of the major work done to my car is by All4x4 at Kotara (Land Rover experts).

Also a slight coincidence, but my disco is in there at the moment getting the ring gear (I think that's what it's called) replaced. It looks sort of like a pressure plate for a manual, but bolts to the front of the torque converter and connects to the back of the engine. Anyways, as it is described to me, this could actually be what is wrong with your disco as well. Mine was just about shagged (ie cracked almost whole way round) and if it fully let go then it would stop all drive through the gearbox (ie engine could rev and there'd be no gogo).

Look up All4x4 and talk to Ben or Andrew, maybe they could help??

    Regards

    Goldey
