    Rear suspension creak

Okay so I'm onto my next fix.

I'm getting a rather loud creak coming from the back suspension, particularly when loaded up with passengers and when the body rolls, although I can get it to creak by bouncing the suspension when stationary.

Any suggestions?? I'm thinking it's coming from the mounting directly above the diff centre section. What is this mounting called?

I suppose, as I sit here typing this, I should really just lay underneath and get someone to bounce the suspension.

Probably one or more of the rubber bushes in the suspension needs changing.

Could be the one near the centre of the diff, which is the A-frame ball joint.

Check the bushes at either end of the shockies.

Also, if you have a sway bar, check the rubber bushes of the sway bar where it attaches to the diff at either side and where it attaches to the chassis rails.

It is most likely the ball joint between the A-frame and the top of the diff. However, it could be one of the other suspension bushes, all of which should have flexing rubber, which does not creak - creaking means the surfaces are moving on each other not flexing.

If it is the ball joint, this, if original, cannot be greased and will need to be replaced - grease-able ones are available. If it has a grease nipple on top, grease it. If it is any of the other bushes, it, and probably all the rest, need to be replaced.

I'll put my hand on the ball joint and 'feel' if that's where it's coming from.
I've noticed the rubber is broken. No Grease nipple.

How difficult is it to replace these?

    Thanks

Theball joint is a press fit. You will need to undo the bolts & then press out & press in the new one. You will have to remove the complete Á' frame to do the job
