if you can put up with the rolling,,

you can get a "belt" wrench, I dont know the propper name. Some oil filter removers are designed on the same principal. the leaver bit grabs the belt which is wraped around the shock. Reasonably cheep. I had the same issue on my shocks when the little 8mm nut head on the shaft just buggered my 8mm spanner - clearly to small.

Thanks for that, I thought of gripping the shock with mole grips etc... but obviously that'd damage the shocks. Fine if I was replacing them but cash flow doesn't allow that lol.

An alternative is to get a blowtorch on the nut (which should be a nyloc and be replaced after removing - right?!) until the nylon insert melts. Make sure you don't over heat it, otherwise I'm sure you'll stand a good chance of damging some seals or something in the shock itself.

Should be easy to undo (though a touch warm) afterwards.

Correct

Get some 6mm rope and rap it a few times around the bottom tube of the shockie ... Then tie a granny knot

Tie the other end to the tow ball or closer

As you undo the nut ... the shockie will turn and take up the slack ... Then it will stop, and then the nut will have no choice but to undo ...(Use you spare hand to help with the grip ... adding a slim rubber base will add grip also)

Those cheap Tie down (flat) straps work best

Hey guys, all done however...

I replaced the upper bushes with identical ones which don't appear to be the correct ones. I believe the top bushes should be 1 rubber resembling an hour glass, however these weren't in, the ones that came out were the same as the ones from the sway bar. I replaced like with like as I couldn't get he hour glass ones in anyway.

Ps any ideas on a frame joint replacement? Do I need to remove rear axle?
