transfer case for sure, and they all do it as said around 80-90 k's.

PS If it is any consolation my brand new Nissan X Trail CVT is just as noisy, in fact when decelerating it sounds positively ancient with an audible 'who hoo hoo hoo' noise from the CVT - much like an old automatic metropolitan bus coming to a stop. Dealer said that's just how they are! Just in case, I keep checking under the X Trail for a pool of oil...how ironic!
