D1 V8 engine electrical issues.. Among others!!

    I bought Jan 94 (really a 93 model) Disco 3.9 ltr V8 auto done 180ks,
and my biggest issues with it that i'd Love advice with are:

1:When semi warm/warm after driving for a while it will start running on 5.5 cylinders and pumping fuel smoke out.. And running obviously like a 3 legged donkey with mental deficiency. Then after a few minutes it'll sort itself out.. I've replaced the dizzy cap, rotor, ignition module.. What other sensor should i focus on? It runs/idles very nicely.. When it wants to!!
Being as this is my biggest issue i'd Really like some advice, as it is unpredictable in it's nature as to when it wants to throw it's leg out of bed.. Traffic..highway.. It's not fussy!

2: It has the dreaded fuel tank leak from somewhere at the top, are there any cures? How much is another fuel tank as a rough guide? Does anyone repair plastic tanks in brisbane? also it looks like a Bastard to get out...

3: A/C... She no work... But that seems par for the course..

4: The Central locking opens all doors but will only close the drivers and the tailgate. Is that problem based at the drivers door switch?

I'd appreciate any help that can be given, as i'm at the point where i flog it off for a lose or has... an.. "accident"..

    Cheers!!

plugs and leads to start with. then the injectors and the injector harness. Then youve got a firm base to work from when it comes time to check the electronics of the ignition but when its missfiring playing around with the amp and the dizzy (spray it with freeze'n'release, tap it with a screwdriver) and if it changes you've found the culprit, if you can get it to mess about at night get it to do so and then open the bonnet and look for sparks.

fuel tank leak will more than likely be a breather line OR the fuel pump sealing ring, cheap easy DIY fixes If you're lucky the rough running fault and the fuel leak are related, that will make fault finding a lot easier.

the central locking issue is typically weakened spring and contamination stripping the door cards off and having a good clean up may restore functionality, Time consuming but again DIY and Cheap.

For your engine woe some more info is needed ie does it occur under load, low or high revs etc etc. Cause will probably be a weak spark, air/fuel ratio is way out of wack (won’t ignite properly) and or a loss of compression causing air/fuel to dissipate before it is ignited. First thing to do is examine all the plugs to get some idea where to start looking as well identify if all or individual cylinders are effected.

Split plastic tanks at the top in older D1’s is common and not properly repairable. Pull inspection cover in cargo bay to look at top of tank to ensure it is not just a line connection. If getting a 2nd hand tank the more recent the better.

AC can be complicated and anything from mechanical to a lack of gas. Start at the compressor to ensure clutch is engaging when AC is turned on. Comp clutch will not enage if busted or if gas is low.

The driver’s door or master actuator (4 wire in your model) sends a signal to all other door actuators. Problem may be the master or individual actuators. Start with replacing an individual one and if that works continue as your master is probably OK. Don’t be tempted to use aftermarket replacements as they will either not work individually or draw too much power for the OEM wiring if replaced as a whole.

And I'll add .... could be the coil.... Don't use a super duper coil ... Just buy the original replacement

Also ... You might have replaced those electrical parts ... but as the others have said ... More info on the parts bought such as the manufacturer

And on a scale of 8 outa 10 ... Your A/C is out of gas

With regard the half warm engine missing issue. My '94 did that a few years ago. It turned out to be the EFI coolant temp sensor. It's located in the valley between the cylinder heads (top of engine). just screw out the existing and screw in new one. Don't worry about coolant escaping, it won't.
    Hope this helps.
