I just thought I would report my experience after fitting a Truetrak Diff in the rear of my Disco for some of you wondering how it performs.
The difference is amazing!
My Disco in the mud did not fill you with confidence when the going got a little tough.
But today I took it up and down some of the slipperiest and steepest climbs and it just kept going!
Without the Truetrak I am convinced I would have got caught today at at least 4 or 5 spots that were very wet slippery clay, routed, and steep but although the front wheels might lose traction the rear wheels just kept pushing through whatever I threw at it!
All up it cost me $613 landed here,
to get it fitted and set up with new bearings. Then, while I was at it I replaced the wheel bearings too.
I love what difference it makes to an auto disco. I feel that I have much more control now in the rear, when before it felt loose and wandering on dirt even when the centre diff was locked.
Whenever I was in mud the car could really slip sideways at times when going down a slippery slope but now, it seems to always wants to straighten up which helps you control the car so much better.
I am sold on these Truetraks and will be saving up for one for the front as well.
P.S.
I am not selling them or trying to drum up any business for anyone. I am just trying to help anyone who has been wondering if the Truetraks are worth the investment for their Disco's or if they make much difference.
In my opinion they make a HUGE difference in mud and sand and especially for an auto!
