    You mean the oojimaflip?

It's bolted on to the whatsit.

    Hope that helped

(Actually it's the thermostat housing, and it's attached to the inlet manifold. If it's not attached, you're in big trouble)

    Yeah that's it!

    Many thanks!

    Now part 2............

I have a coolant leak that seems to be coming from somewhere where it bolts on.............

    How bad is that?

    potentially catastrophic.

how bads the leak? keep monitoring the coolant level run out of coolant and its rebuild engine time... More or less.

leak isn't bad - drip would probably be a better description - but by the look of it its been going for a while.

I probably top up coolant by maybe 200ml every 1000klm or so - if even that much.

I had a new radiator and thermostat fitted last march.

    could it be something simple?

Fairly simple to fix. Drain the radiator via a siphon hose into the plug in the top of the radiator until the level is below the thermostat. With the engine cold, undo the top radiator hose and then the thermostat housing, refit with a new gasket and some sealant, reassemble and refill. Should take a mechanical person about 1/2 hour.

Thankyou all so much for your help!

It was under 9 months ago that I had the radiator and thermostat replaced and I just looked at the receipt and it says included fitting a new gasket.

So either they didn't, they over-tightened it or just stuffed it in general.

So off back to them it goes tomorrow -and they can fix it for free!

That's after I get the brake pads put on first.

I'm getting the knack of this 'asking for help' thing. Stopped in at a servo today to ask if he could tell me if i had solid or ventilated brake disks so I knew which pads to get.

No use me wasting my 'buy at trade price' from bursons just because I don't have a clue. If I don't know I'll ask! So thanks all!

Good on you for having the guts to ask questions. I'm sure if you brought the parts needed ( brake pads) and asked for help, a friendly forum member would offer to assist you in fitting / repairing so you could learn to do it yourself and save some cash. Nothing like someone to show you simple repairs. Good luck. Baz

Since its only a little leak and you've got the nouse to stay on top of it if the mob that did the install wont come to the party for a repair, providing you get your parts in order you're welcome to drop by and I'll show you how to change the parts over.
