    v8 exhaust

    hi all
i have just got another disco
problem is its the v8 and its sooooo loud
the system it has on is 3 inch with one resonator in the center
what i want to know is do i need to replace the whole system to make it quiet or will another resonator do the job.
i use the car for towing my boat so im oftem driving through suburbia at 3am hence i need a quiet car

    cheers

the standard system has a muffler in the middle and a resonator at the back, and is quiet,
i swapped my standard muffler for a lukey turbo muffler, straight thru, and it was a bit sportier sounding, with the original resonator, but a bit more drumming in side, but quite bearable,
i have now ditched the resonator, and it is loud if you need any revs or try to increase speed, too loud to drive at 3 am.
i'd go to an exhaust shop and get a sports muffler and resonator fitted.

sometimes it is nice to be able to sneak along quietly, and there is no real gain by adding noise.

however i think there is nothing better than the rover v8 howl up a steep grade in the bush......

Goto your local muffler shop, I'm sure they will make some suggestions.
Most liekly the first will be to put back in a rear resonator, which i think will take the edge off it enough to be ok for the early morn.

it might be easier to buy a stock exhaust from a discovery at the wreckers, will certainly be quiet

Good to hear you got a system that suits. This is the system I intend to have installed to match an engine rebuild in future:
XForce. Performance Mufflers, Exhaust Systems & Accessories. About the Varex™ remote controlled Sports muffler.

Very good for having noise when you want it and silence when you don't. The only concern is the 'water resistant' wiring and plugs; I guess they'd have to be brought up to offroad spec upon installation or the day after, at home.
